Wow, it’s been a while since posting on this blog, and there’s been quite a few changes. I’ve sold both of my Bestof business and started a leaflet distribution business in Milton Keynes

I’ve also been putting lots of effort into the Utility warehouse and this is paying dividends.

I decided to setup The Leaflet Delivery Company Ltd after identifying that there was a huge gap in the market for an honest, transparent leaflet distribution company. I had previously fallen foul of dishonest companies that promise the earth and then don’t deliver,  effectively putting the marketing materials in the bin or using kids to deliver at minimum wage so they throw half of the leaflets in the ditch.

We spent a fair bit of time researching the market and investing in the technology to set us apart from ou competitors.  We use GPS satellite tracking on all of our deliveries and have created a back office infrastructure to keep track of the logistics as well as to report on the progress on a regular basis for our clients.

We launched in November 2009 and did our first deliveries the same month.  We’re now delivering over 500,000 leaflets per month and it’s growing all the time.

Aas you know, I’ve been blogging about my experience with Linda Cartwright, The Lose It Coach, and things have been going very well.

We had weigh in tonight and I’ve hit my first stone of weight loss, so I’m pretty pleased. It’s taken me about 5 weeks and I can tell you that being on this eating plan is not like being on a diet.

Of course I’ve had to cut down on the alcohol, biscuits, crisps and other junk, but I don’t need to sacrifice everything completely.  The plan Linda devises incorporates enough “Extras” to allow for the odd half bottle of Cabernet or a couple of other treats.

I’ve still got a fair bit to go, but I’m really chuffed with my weight loss so far.

Any one who is looking to lose weight could do a lot worse than contacting The Lose It Coach

I missed last weeks post about my experience with Linda Cartwright, The Lose It Coach, as I’ve been very very busy with thebestof.  But last weeks weigh-in was a great success with 4lbs weight loss in a week.   I was pretty happy with that, considering that the day after weigh in, I was going on a 5 day break to Eurodisney.

Whilst away on our short hols, I relaxed and had a great time, and didn’t worry about sticking to the eating plan.  I just ate what I wanted including the mandatory ice cream or two each day, and of course there was also the odd bottle of wine, and a few beers.

We arrived back on Sunday night so I vowed to get straight back on the eating plan which Linda has devised for me as I had the next group session on Tuesday night.

Having eaten what I wanted for 5 days, I was fully expecting to put on a few pounds, but I got on the scales and found I had lost a further 2lbs.  I was pretty chuffed.

Having thought this through, I’d attribute the weight loss to the fact that I’ve been eating a healthy balanced diet forthe last month, which has put my metabolism back on track, plus there was a lot of walking at Eurodisney (about 5 miles a day at least), which was probably enough to burn off the magnum or bottle of merlot.

So Total weight loss since 23rd May 2009 -  12lbs

Needless to say, I’m extremely pleased with the progress and very happy with the results so far. I’ve got a target of losing 5 stone in total, so I’m nearly 1 stone closer.

I found this story on one of Hulls local newspapers.  A Guy from Hull has recently recevied a payment reminder for his gas bull which amounts to £850 Billion pounds!!  What appliances is he running at home??

But luckily British Gas offered him time to pay.  “”Please call 08001077064 to arrange payment, or alternatively make this payment within the next three days. Thank you.”"

British Gas have appologised for their mistake and said that they put the account number in the amount field by mistake.

Should have gone to Utility Warehouse, their bill would have certainly been cheaper! and the customer service is award winning.

Check out Utility Warehouse here. http://www.telecomplus.org.uk/tnichs

This was one of the testimonials.

My teenage sons will be so impressed next time they’re home from Uni that their technophobe mother is joining to twitter and network online. I may even ask their help to start a facebook entry too!

Thank you once again,

My previous post told you about the Utility Warehouse cashback card and that 5% of your spend at about 30 different stores would be credited to your utility bill each month  when using it.  Well New Look, another high street fashion retailer has been added to the list.

Just a recap on how the cashback card works.

  • As a Utility Warehouse customer, you can apply for a cashback card.
  • The card displays a mastercard symbol and can be spent in any store that accepts mastercard
  • This is not a credit card.  You pre-load the card with cash and you can only spend the money put on the card.  You can not get into debt like a credit card
  • When you spend money in the stores partaking in this scheme, you receive 5% of your spend credited to your next monthly utility bill.

So, for example,  last week, I bought a new gas barbecue from Hombase for £100.  I used my card so £5 is knocked of my next utility bill!  Money for nothing as I was going to buy it anyway!

The Utility Warehouse cashback card is an ideal way of saving some money without having to do anything.  Just use it instead of cash.

To find out more about the card  visit this site and then click the 5% Cashback Card tab at the top.

This is my second week being coached by Linda Cartwright, The Lose it coach and we had weigh in tonight.  Another 2lbs bites the dust which I’m very happy with.

Total weight loss now in 2 weeks =5lbs

What I’m really pleased about is that I’ve only had to make some small changes to my eating habits in order to acheive this.

I wasn’t expecting to lose anything this week as I had 2 barbeques over the weekend and let myself go a bit, but looking back at it, I was still concious of what I was eating and didn’t really blow out.

Linda’s programme is not like being on a diet.  It’s just about being sensible about what to eat and when to eat and paying attention to what I’m feeding myself.

Willen Dragon Boat FestivalFor some mad reason I’ve volunteered for this years Willen Dragon Boat Festival at Milton Keynes on the 28th June.  My lads nursery take part annually and they were asking for people to crew the boat.

The event is attended by thousands and is generally a great day out in Milton Keynes and this year the event is raising money for the World Vision Charity.

It would be really useful if you could dig deep and sponsor me this year.  Please visit my Justgiving page at http://www.justgiving.com/trevornicholls1

trevornicholls.co.uk on May 26th, 2009

On Tuesday of last week I had my first session with Linda Cartwright, The Lose It Coach.  We had an hours consultation, during which we did a full assesment of my eating habits.  I’ll be honest,  no real shocks.  I knew my diet was bad after years of networking events, spending hours each day on the road visiting clients so picking up convenience food from the local garage, eating at odd times in the day and basically eating a load of rubbish.

One of the big wake up calls was looking at the amount of sugar I was eating, snacking on biscuits/sweets and other junk in between meals and Linda reminded me of the health risks that this carries.

Linda then explained to me the eating plan that she felt would suit me well  (She has a number to chose from) and ran over the ideal eating times and portion sizes. I was then invited to come back to the group session on Thursday evening. where we would have a weigh in.

Right, so I decided to start the plan on Thursday, and I have to say I was pleasently suprised on how easy it was to stick to.  Her plans centre around eating the right types of food and in the correct proportions. For example, my plan gives me 5 portions of carbohydrates (Potatoes, bread, beans), 4 of protein (chicken, fish etc), 3 of fat, 2 diary and 3 fruit portions.  Plus as much veggies as I like and an additional 250 calaries per day which I can use on whatever I like, therefore no forbidden foods.   I was also given a comprehensive booklet which listed foods – including portion sizes and what categories they fitted in to.

What I found was that because I knew I had a limit of what I was going to eat that day, I made concious decisions as to what I was going to eat.  What would fill me up more,  A jacket spud and beans or 4 slices of bread and a bit of cheese. Both amounted to the same number of units that I could eat.  I chose the more filling foods each day and suprisingly enough I actual felt full most of the time.  Certainly I didn’t feel I was on a diet.

I went to the group last Thursday evening.  (Linda runs seperate male/female groups and only has small numbers. The current male group has 4 members)  Linda does the weigh in for us, and does so in private so you don’t feel embarrased by being over looked.  I knew I was overweight but recently I’ve put on a bit more which was a bit of a shock.   After the weigh in, Linda runs through a few tips about the eating plan and how to ensure you stick to it.  I knew I had a few social and networking events lined up over the weekend so she suggested some alternatives to the usual full english breakfasts.  I also managed a meal out and a 5-6 beers over the weekend, whilst still sticking to the plan.

So results time.  I’ve just got back from the group tonight  (This week there was only a 5 day gap rather than the usual 7) and we’ve had a weigh in.

3 Pounds lost in 5 Days

Avery happy result,  I’ve had 5 days of eating well, good sized meals without the feeling of missing out on anything, a few beers and a meal out and I’ve still lost a very pleasing amount of weight. (I’ve also just had a chicken kebab all within my plan).
